1:1 Student Help Center


Are you experiencing difficulties with your L-S issued Chromebook?
Stop by the Media Center to get assistance. Fill out a trouble ticket and drop your Chromebook off for repairs by the L-S IT Dept.

Is your Chromebook in for repairs? Did you forget your Chromebook?
Stop by the Media Center to check out a loaner Chromebook for the day.

Is your Chromebook carrying case damaged or falling apart?
No problem--the Media Center has replacements available. Stop by anytime.

Need to borrow a pair of headphones?
The Media Center has headphones available for checkout.

Do you need to borrow a charger?
The Media Center has chargers available for checkout for use during the school day. (If you have lost the charger issued to you when you received your Chromebook, you will need to fill out a trouble ticket to request a replacement charger for home use.)

Copier
The Media Center has a black & white copier available for student use. There is currently no charge to make copies. Copies should be for educational purposes.

Interlibrary Loan
The Media Center participates in the Access PA program, which allows students to borrow books from other libraries throughout the state. This is a free service for students. Borrowing periods for these materials vary. Search the Access PA catalog to browse available materials at: accesspa.powerlibrary.org. Contact Media Center staff to request books from other libraries.

Printing
The Media Center is a printing hub for the school in the 1:1 environment. Numerous printing stations are provided where can log-in to print needed documents to the black & white printer. Printing is available free of charge to students and should be for educational purposes only.

Policies:


Circulation
Most materials may be checked out from the Media Center.
Borrowing periods are:
-General Collection: 4 weeks
-Interlibrary loan materials: Varies

Renewals
Items can be renewed for an additional 4 week checkout. Students wishing to have items renewed should see Media Center staff. You need not bring the item to the circulation desk in order to renew it.

Fines (Update: Fines will not be charged for the 2021-22 school year.)
Students will be charged fines for overdue/late materials. Fines are not charged on days when school is not is session (weekends/holidays/snow days). Students receive printed fine/overdue notices in homeroom every other Tuesday. Fines are as follows:
-All items: .10/day

Lost/Damaged Items
A replacement fee will be charged for materials that are lost or are damaged beyond repair. Charges assessed will be in accordance with policies outlined in the student handbook.

Collection Development Policy
Items are added to the collection in accordance with Lampeter-Strasburg School Board Policy 109 - Resource Materials.

Media Center Materials Weeding Policy
In order to maintain a collection of materials within the framework of the philosophy of the Lampeter-Strasburg School District selection procedure and within the physical restraints of the school media center, the following criteria for maintaining the collection has been established.

Definition: Weeding is the process of withdrawing materials from the collection that are no longer suitable for use. It is a continuous process; however, special attention is given during the annual inventory. Weeding is completed by the Media Center staff with the help of school faculty who are consulted as needed.

Criteria for Removal of Materials:

  • Poor physical condition and rebinding/mending would be futile.
  • Content is inaccurate, obsolete, or misleading.
  • Material has been superseded by new or revised material.
  • Material has not circulated within a pre-determined period.
  • Duplicates whose material is no longer in demand.
  • Material may no longer reflect the curriculum.
