Award Winners

  • Alex Awards - Best books originally published for adults with appeal to young adults.
  • YALSA's Excellence in Non-Fiction Award - This award honors the best non-fiction book published for young adults.
  • Printz Award- The Printz Award honors the best book published for young adults in the the past year. Each year one winner and several runners-up are named.
  • Teen Book Finder - One-stop shop for searching recommended book lists and award winners.

Book Recommendations

  • The Book Page - Use this site to check out reviews of new teen fiction titles.
  • The Book Seer - When you input the title and author of a book you have read and enjoyed, this site will offer predictions of similar titles that you might also enjoy.
  • No Flying, No Tights - Get advice on great comics, graphic novels and manga you should be reading!
  • Read On - This site offers book lists by subject. It's a great place to start if you know what you want to read about, but you don't know a specific title or author.

Book Recommendations - Book Lists

  • Best Fiction for Young Adults - Looking the best books published in the past year? Look no further. This list features the "Best of the Best" fiction books published for teens in the past year.
  • Great Graphic Novels for Teens - Are you a fan of graphic novels? Then you need to check out this yearly list, which features recommended graphic novels and illustrated nonfiction for those ages 12-18.
  • Teen Book Finder - One-stop shop for searching recommended book lists and award winners.
  • Teens Top Ten - Want to know what other teens recommend? Then this is the list for you. Each year, teens nominate and choose their favorite books from the past year. Teens across the country vote during Teen Reads Week to determine the Top Ten titles.
  • Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers - Not a huge fan of reading? Check out this yearly list developed by librarians for readers like you.

  • YA Series & Sequels - Search by author, title or series to find the order in which to read books in popular Young Adult series.
  • What’s Next:Books in a Series - This database lists the books in a series and allows you to create a printer-friendly version.

College Bound Reading

Outstanding Books for the College Bound - The books on this list offer opportunities to discover new ideas, and provide an introduction to the fascinating variety of subjects within an academic discipline. Readers will gain an understanding of our diverse world and build a foundation to deepen their response to that world. This list is developed every five years and is developed by the Young Adult Library Services Association. It offers opportunities for independent reading and lifelong learning. Use it to round out your reading as you prepare for college entrance exams and courses, to strengthen your knowledge in a variety of subject areas and enhance appreciation for different cultures and times.
