High School Names April 2023 Students of the Month

Congratulations to senior Kathryn Berry, juniors Ronan Lancaster and Lillian Weaver, and sophomore Daniel Burkhart!

Lampeter-Strasburg High School faculty recognized a sophomore, two juniors, and a senior for their achievements in April: 

Pioneer Superlatives

Kathryn Berry - Kathryn is a senior and the daughter of Matt and Jackie Berry of Lancaster. The social studies department nominated her for enthusiastically engaging in classroom discussions and going above and beyond on projects. Kathryn is a member of the Pioneer Interact Club, National Honor Society, and the LSHS chorus. She also is active in Girl Scouts and dance. Kathryn enjoys spending time reading, writing, and enjoying music. She plans to attend college to study environmental engineering. 

Ronan Lancaster - Ronan is a junior and the son of Pat and Christopher Lancaster of Strasburg. The social studies department nominated Ronan for working hard and striving to stay positive in the classroom, and for being a reliable Link Crew leader for incoming ninth-grade students. He is a member of the marching band, jazz band, Spring Musical pit crew, Link Crew, and the track and field team. Ronan is also a Boy Scout. He enjoys both listening to and playing music, and watching and playing sports, especially basketball. Ronan aspires to pursue a career as either a sports reporter or sports journalist. 

Students of the Month

Lillian Weaver - Lillian is a junior and the daughter of Josh and Cheryl Weaver of Strasburg. The social studies department nominated her as a natural student leader who shows daily growth, politeness, and work ethic. Teachers also praised her for her friendly smiles and encouragement to all. Lillian is the secretary of the Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS), and a member of the concert band, marching band, pit orchestra, and honor roll. She is also active in youth group and Bible school at Strasburg Mennonite Church. Lillian enjoys spending time with friends and family, babysitting, and being in the nursery at church. She is unsure of her future plans but is inclined to pursue a career in elementary education. 

Daniel Burkhart - Daniel is a sophomore and the son of Michelle Marshall of Strasburg and Robert Burkhart. Several departments nominated him as a determined, hardworking student who is eager to learn. Daniel is a member of the honor roll and the Pioneer Interact Club at LSHS, and is involved in a bowling club in the community. He enjoys bowling and learning about European history and World War II. Daniel plans to pursue a career as a carpenter after graduation. 

Board Recognition

At their May 1 meeting, the L-S Board of School Directors recognized the students. Board member Suzanne Knowles presented the certificates.
